Hey,
Guess what, I'm in Year 3 now! Final year of my Poly life! Yesterday it started. Yesterday begins Final Year Project. Simply said today is the 2nd day of FYP. The project that I've been assigned to is not difficult I'd say. It is very theoretical. I have to do research on this particular subject and evaluate on that as much as possible.
The bigger picture for my project is ultimately to compose a new course and find the suitable and relavant modules that comes with the course. Like what are the modules that will be learnt in this course. My supervisor said we're are doing this project to come up with a new course for the part-timers. Kinda cool actually I think.
The target audience for this particular course would be people from the industry who will be doing part-time studying in the school. Therefore the terminologies used would be that of the understanding of these people.
I appreciate this project since its all theory and no practical. Like I don't have to do any CAD drawing or programming or Designing or whatsoever. Its all theory like researching, details, facts, evalutation and all that. Let's hope it stays the way it is. But sometimes it can be very mundane. Like the number of hours is just too taxing. If its 6 hours per day then it would be fine. But its 9 1/2 hours monday to thursday and 8 hours on friday for 12 weeks! and now its only week 1.
I have a partner though for this FYP. The two of us we share two supervisor. One is the head supervisor and the other one is the supervisor. So far we've met the supervisor. The head supervisor we have yet to meet. Then again its just the second day right. We havethe rest of this week and another 11 weeks to see that other supervisor. These supervisors are actually lecturers from the school. For FYP they are called supervisors. Everyone has different supervisors. If you are doing partner work then you'll share supervisors.
Earlier my supervisor stopped by to talk to us further about our project. He then look at what we have done so far. He's impressed with the research and the work that we've done by far. Then he brought us around, tour the labs for further understanding of the project. Now we're back here in the lab, in our work space but with better understanding of the project.
Already there's an inside joke between students like when they pass by each other they'll ask: "eh! where's your office? hahaha." And then the usual: "How's FYP? what's your project like" Everyone is located at various labs and various level. The school really make it feel like as though we are really working. Like we clock in and out the regular office hours. Everyone has their own work area, also known as 'the office' like everyone will have their own office, their own space. Everyone has their own task to do. You have 2 short breaks: one morning and one late afternoon and 1 long break which is the lunch time. It really feels like working. One thing missing is salary. If the school decides to pay us, even if its the minimum like $300 per month, then it is already like working.
All in all it is fine and it should be. I am okay with they way it is actually. Time flies after all right.
I found some cool facts on how to lose weight or lose some fats from a particular area on the body or how to keep fit. I shall blog about it another time perhaps. I have a feeling I'll be blogging oftenly. Oh well.
Alvida!
